Dr. Ankita Mishra has been associated with Saajhi Duniya since 2006. A Doctorate in Women’s Studies from Lucknow University, she holds a diploma in Journalism as well. She is the Joint Secretary of Saajhi Duniya. She has been a core member of the research team working on several projects of the organization. Her expertise and area of interest include gender equality, peace building, violence against women and the role of media. She worked with Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, Actionaid and Oxfam on several projects, such as Women and Media in context of Globalisation, Fundamentalism and Women and Women’s Access of Justice. These projects were supported by Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. Ankita analyzed the Domestic Investigation Report in the state of Uttar Pradesh supported by Oxfam. She also worked on several projects with UNICEF on Gender inequality, Education, Respectful maternity care etc. She prepared gender sensitive materials for training sessions that included stories and poems on gender equality. She also prepared training modules on various social issues. Ankita conducted sessions in large numbers with students, communities, self help groups and health workers to create awareness on social issues. She analyzed the textbooks for classes 9-12 affiliated with the Uttar Pradesh Education Board, ISC/ICSE and CBSE. The analysis was mainly focused on gender perspectives, but it also examined issues related to superstition, casteism, communalism etc. Additionally, Ankita is involved in the documentation of Saajhi Duniya’s activities. She continues to raise her voice on violence against women and takes active part in many public protests and marches. She pursues cases of women victims of violence and helps in counseling them. She is in the choir of Saajhi Duniya.
