Ms. Tazeen Fatima

Tazeen Fatima did her Post-Graduation in Modern History and English Literature. She taught middle school children for 10 years. Additionally, she has been handling cases of violence against women including documentation and behavior change for over 12 years. She has been associated with Saajhi Duniya since 2012. She is a Joint Secretary in the Executive Committee of Saajhi Duniya. As an active member of core team, Tazeen helps in counseling women victims of violence and pursuing court cases on their behalf. She is also part of Saajhi Duniya’s cultural team. She is responsible for documenting the newspaper clippings and is leading efforts to digitize them. Additionally, she worked on several projects with UNICEF, Rosa Luxemburg, Oxfam India and Action Aid and continues to be very active on many UNICEF projects on different issues. She also studied social exclusion in planning and implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission in 20 Village panchayats of Uttar Pradesh. Tazeen has also created gender sensitive materials and conducted training sessions in a very entertaining and interactive. Through these sessions, she communicated with children up to the Junior College level at both Government and Private schools to be gender sensitive in life. She also sensitized communities, health workers, ward members of urban local body, etc. She developed support material for parents and adolescents, addressing gender based violence. Tazeen also prepared booklets on various issues like Child marriage, Child rights, POCSO Act etc. She analyzed the textbooks for classes 9-12 affiliated with the Uttar Pradesh Education Board, ISC/ICSE and CBSE, from a gender perspective. The main focus of the analysis was gender but later added the issues of superstition, castesm, and communalism etc.
